The Great Ceibo

Continuing our exploration of the spirits (mostly spirit animals but today, a tree) that protect Pavones, today’s is the majestic ceibo, a tree that is often seen standing tall and alone in pastures and corn fields across Costa Rica.

Costa Rican myth says that the great ceibo, mother of all trees, carries the soul out of this world and into the next.

This is the ceibo’s message, just in time for tomorrow’s new moon:
Slow down. Root yourself. Feel the home that is your body. You are sacred, from the soles of your feet to the crown of your head. Your true roots run deep into the earth, your spirit soars into the wide blue sky.
